UPSTREAM: regmap: Drop initial version of maximum transfer length fixes commit bc64734825c59e18a27ac266b07e14944c111fd8 upstream. When problems were noticed with the register address not being taken into account when limiting raw transfers with I2C devices we fixed this in the core. Unfortunately it has subsequently been realised that a lot of buses were relying on the prior behaviour, partly due to unclear documentation not making it obvious what was intended in the core. This is all more involved to fix than is sensible for a fix commit so let's just drop the original fixes, a separate commit will fix the originally observed problem in an I2C specific way Bug: 305125309 Fixes: 3981514180c9 ("regmap: Account for register length when chunking") Fixes: c8e796895e23 ("regmap: spi-avmm: Fix regmap_bus max_raw_write") Change-Id: Idb4ef8cb6e304def1423304575a8fc27a41719b0 Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org> Reviewed-by: Xu Yilun <yilun.xu@intel.com> Cc: stable@kernel.org Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230712-regmap-max-transfer-v1-1-80e2aed22e83@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
BEST: Make all of your changes to upstream Linux. If appropriate, backport to the stable releases. These patches will be merged automatically in the corresponding common kernels. If the patch is already in upstream Linux, post a backport of the patch that conforms to the patch requirements below.
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL()
require an in-tree modular driver that uses the symbol -- so include the new driver or changes to an existing driver in the same patchset as the export.LESS GOOD: Develop your patches out-of-tree (from an upstream Linux point-of-view). Unless these are fixing an Android-specific bug, these are very unlikely to be accepted unless they have been coordinated with kernel-team@android.com. If you want to proceed, post a patch that conforms to the patch requirements below.
